PEF seeking candidates for Board of Directors

Post date: Dec 10, 2013 4:48:56 AM

Interested in helping to preserve the environment? Want to work with local environmental groups? Interested in serving on the board of a non-profit organization? If so, Pacifica's Environmental Family would like to talk with you!

Local volunteers started Pacifica's Environmental Family (PEF) over twenty-five years ago, and it was formally incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 1998. Its primary role is to be a fiscal sponsor of grassroots community projects in Pacifica that are non-profit in scope and have an environmental focus. In addition, we put on events such as the recent screening of Chasing Ice, a climate change talk by Carlos Davidson, and an environmental forum of city council candidates.

Currently, we proudly serve as the non-profit fiscal sponsor of: The Pacifica Beach Coalition, Pacifica Gardens, Pacifica Shorebird Alliance, Vallemar Conservators and Pacificans for a Scenic Coast, and we are always looking for new groups to sponsor.

Through PEF's commitment to responsible non-profit stewardship of their funds and under PEF's auspice, these local projects are able to apply for grants, hold fundraisers and accept tax deductible donations to sustain their important work on behalf of Pacificans and the environment throughout the year. PEF's support provides the non-profit infrastructure to make it possible for all of these projects to make things happen and thrive.

One of the goals of PEF is to expand our current Board of Directors. We're looking for individuals with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, good communications skills, people who enjoy being part of a collaborative group, and are available to meet at least 8 times per year for board meetings. We're particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: non-profit administration, bookkeeping/accounting, fundraising, public relations and communications, environmental education and advocacy, event organizing, group facilitation, community organizing and/or administrative assistant skills.

If you'd like to be considered for a volunteer board position, please contact PEF President Marj Davis at 650-483-1161 or to get more information and to arrange an interview.
