Pacifica's Environmental Family is excited to welcome Cindy Abbott as our newest Board Member. Cindy is an active member of Pacifica's community, serving as Parks, Beaches and Recreation Commissioner, Board Treasurer of the Sanchez Art Center, and as a member of the Pacifica Resource Center Advisory Board. She is also an active contributor for the Pacifica Historical Society and takes part in other local volunteer actions. Cindy also spent three years as a key volunteer for the Pacifica Beach Coalition, almost single-handedly organizing the post-cleanup celebrations Pacificans have come to know and love!

Cindy is passionate about the environment and believes the health of our planet is tied to the oceans. She has been privileged to be a citizen scientist with Earthwatch, collecting data in Fiji relative to the rebuilding of a coral reef following a natural disaster. Through another Earthwatch project (in Kenya) Cindy heightened her awareness and appreciation of the impact of local community engagement to protect habitat and species.

Engaging with stakeholders and collaboratively developing solutions that address needs has been the cornerstone of Cindy's career. With over twenty years of experience, Cindy enjoys developing programs, facilitating engaging meetings, and creating strategies that result in plans that support people and organizations. Cindy holds a BA in psychology, and has also completed Certificates in Sustainability Leadership from UC Irvine and Nonprofit Management from the University of Illinois, Chicago.

As thrilled as we are to welcome Cindy to the PEF Board, we are also sad to say goodbye to another Board member, Mia Liban. Thank you, Mia, for all of your help with PEF over the past year and a half. We will miss you, but wish you the best of luck with your new job and new adventures!
