Pacifica’s Environmental Family (PEF) is recruiting individuals for our Board of Directors. Established in 1998, Pacifica’s Environmental Family is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to promote the discovery of, and caring for, our wealth of natural resources.
PEF’s primary role is to act as fiscal sponsor of grassroots community projects in Pacifica that are nonprofit in scope and have an environmental focus. This means that local projects can apply for grants, hold fundraisers, and accept tax-deductible donations to sustain their important work. Currently, we serve as the nonprofit fiscal sponsor of the Pacifica Beach Coalition, Pacifica Shorebird Alliance, Vallemar Conservators and Pacificans for a Scenic Coast, and we are always looking for new groups to sponsor.
PEF also hosts events throughout the year to raise awareness of environmental issues, offer education on natural history, and inspire stewardship and community. We also host the annual Kahuna Kupuna Surf Contest to celebrate the intergenerational nature of surfing and to raise much needed funds for our organization.
We are interested in Board candidates with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, good communications skills, a collaborative spirit, and the availability to meet at least eight times per year for Board meetings. We are also interested in individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas: non-profit administration, fundraising, finance, public relations and communications, environmental education and advocacy, event organizing, group facilitation, community organizing and/or administrative skills.
Interested persons should send a resume or bio, and a short cover letter outlining why you would like to serve on the PEF Board, what special skills, talents, or resources you bring to the Board, and what you hope to accomplish as a Board member to:
Cindy Abbott, President
